FRANCE IN RECESSION...BRING OUT THE CHAMPAGNE!

Endless Champagne Houses to visit...Veuve Clicquot (and you thought getting into Hermes Museum was difficult!), Tattinger, G.H. Mumm, Pommery and more. Another 10 km walk to the Houses and back to La Gare ( local residents were surprised that walking vs. bus was the choice).

Sharing Pommery as it was under the leadership of a woman who was before her time! Remember this was the champagne consumed by Monaco when Prince Rainier married Grace Kelly.

Voila the largest blending barrel in the world...holds 100,000 bottles.

Ready for a champagne picnic?

That is 116 steps down into the Gallo-Roman chalk-pits...and 116 steps back.

Looking towards daylight!

This house also features a unique modern art collection which was most interesting...from this ball to lighting in the caves...enjoyed the introduction to such ancient surroundings.

The House also does an annual Art Experience Pommery for both the House and La Villa Demoiselle, along with the Musée des Beaux-arts who have done a first time exhibition celebrating the relationship between Champagne and the arts from the 17th century to the present day.
